Tailgating

Truthfully, not one part of me is interested in football. I've been invited to tailgate before and had no idea what to wear. I couldn't find any good ideas on the internet since, understandably, Who What Wear has not done an article about the subject. Left to my own devices before a UK game, I decided I was lucky since a large portion of my wardrobe is navy. I opted for the navy-and-white beach sweater (shown above) and a pair of navy J.Crew chino shorts paired with flat sandals and a baseball cap. As I reached for my orange-trimmed Feed tote bag, I realized it would be a mortal crime to add orange to blue on the day that UK played UF. Not wanting to be mobbed by angry fans, I quickly opted for my navy and white boat and tote from L.L. Bean. Again, I don't know anything about football but if you're going to a tailgate and don't have any official fan garb, just stick to your own style but incorporate the team's colors for your own physical safety.

When I say I'm not interested in football, I'm not doing so to appear too-cool or edgy by rejecting what is regarded as an American staple. I really just can't. I have tried, believe me. I went to one Superbowl party and got so bored that I ended up doing weird party tricks with beer and champagne by myself in the kitchen, okay? I just can't. Just leave me to my Arsenal games.

Dinner Party

Dress: Rebecca Minkoff | Jacket: OAK | Pumps: The Seller | Earrings: Kate Spade | Clutch: Accessorize

Perhaps my favorite thing about fall dressing is the combination of texture. For your next dinner party, keep things minimal by sticking to a simple, neutral color palette and play with texture instead. I love this wool dress from Rebecca Minkoff paired with a leather jacket, metallic pumps, and a furry clutch. Dress up the look with an ornate earring, like these from Kate Spade in a warm emerald tone.

Apple Orchard

Whether you are going to the orchard to stock up on fruit or to craft your obligatory apple picking Instagram post, you should look the part. However, you don't have to resort to the traditional cable knit over gingham with jeans tucked into leather boots. The look I've put together is that of the reluctant tag-along friend who wants fresh apples for her kitchen but isn't into being overly enthusiastic about it. I stayed classic with a cable knit sweater and Bean boots but paired them with black velvet skinnies and the weird, furry hat from Rag & Bone for just the right hint of drunk uncle. Finally, there's the waxed tote from L.L. Bean which is perfect for the job.

City Weekend

Jacket: Mango | Scarf: Burberry | Bag: Blackfive | Jeans: Paige Denim | Top: River Island | Shoes: Tod's | Sunglasses: Celine

For the city look, I continued the vibe of cool-meets-classic by pairing a biker jacket with the old-school nova check scarf. Balance out these textures with a light silk camisole and tortoise glasses. For the accessories, I decided to go for the burgundy trend with a pair of fringed loafers from Tod's and a color block bag from Blackfive. Altogether, you've got a perfect look for a park stroll and lunch at The Smith.

Vest: Patagonia | Top:  Nike | Leggings: Adidas | Headband: Zella | Sunglasses: Ray Ban | Boots: Rupert Sanderson | Backpack: Rebecca Minkoff

This final look is for the hike you've been meaning to take in that sacred time between sweltering heat and first snowfall. Layer up with a Patagonia vest and Nike base in a complementary palette. Add a pair of moisture wicking leggings and these perfect hiking boots from Rupert Sanderson. Add a quilted backpack and neon headband and you're good to go.
