6 Sweaters to Buy For Fall

I really do not wish to use the hackneyed phrase "sweater weather", so let's just say it's starting to get chilly and we all need a knitted garment to wrap ourselves in. Here are the six types of sweaters you need for fall (and winter), as well as some ideas for styling.

Black High-Neck

The black high-neck sweater: it's classic, Parisian, versatile. For a classic look, pair it with a camel trench and black skinnies plus a classic pump or loafer. For a trendier look, try a color blocked skirt and OTK leather boots

Beige Sweater

Alexander Wang | Loeffler Randall | Acne Studios

The beige sweater is a great way to achieve a classic, polished look. It pairs well with a red lip, dark wash blue or black jeans, and a tall boot or leather loafer. I also like the idea of pairing it with a black leather skirt and tortoise shell sunglasses or layering it over a white button down.

White Cable Knit

The cable knit sweater is the ultimate fall classic. Keep it classic with dark jeans and knee-high boots or go for a street style inspired look. Try it with black trousers and Stan Smiths or with white pants and espadrille flats

Gray

J.Crew | Adidas | J Brand | J Brand

A gray sweater is the easiest thing to put on when you don't feel like putting together an outfit. It will pair well with your jeans, your black skirts, and all of your shoes. Try playing it up with a printed pant or a statement shoe. You could even throw it on when you're leaving the gym to achieve that athleisure look.

Graphic Sweatshirt

I absolutely love a graphic sweatshirt. Whether it's quirky like Markus Lupfer pieces or more sporty like something you would find at J.Crew, a graphic sweatshirt is a really easy way to add some fun and humor to your outfit. If you're like me---loves minimalism, stays away from color, doesn't want to be boring---this might be the perfect way for you to have fun with your clothes without wearing a banana printed co-ord set with matching turban.

Long Cardigan

The long cardigan is great for plane rides and casual office days. It works for drinking cider at the cafe or taking a walk through the park. Pair it with jeans when you're going out or with leggings and a slub knit tee at home.
