february entertaining tips

My idea of the perfect February party is one that's still cozy for winter but that begins to transition into spring by focusing on fresh ingredients and flowers. February parties should be warm and cozy and slow-paced to provide comfort as we press through the remainder of winter.

MAKE IT EASY: Potluck
The most time-consuming and expensive part of most parties is food preparation. To make your party super easy, make it a potluck. Set a theme (comfort food, breakfast for dinner, taco bowls, etc.) and have each guest bring part of the meal.

DRINK OF CHOICE: Cranberry Fizz Mocktail
This drink sounds heavenly to me. It's an alcohol-free cranberry fizz that's pretty and pink if you need that for a Galentine's Day party and that's just delicious for any occasion. Plus, it's super easy! Just blend ginger ale or sparkling cider with cranapple juice, lemon and lime juice, and a bit of cinnamon sugar. You can get creative with the garnish!

HOSTESS GIFT: Local or Homemade Preserves
A unique gift you can bring to your hostess or pass out to your guests is a jar of preserves. You can either make them yourself at home or buy them from a local farmer's market or general store. This is a versatile gift that will last quite a while and make a really nice impression.

DECOR STAPLE: Cake Stand
Yes, of course, you can simply put a cake on it but there are so many other uses for a cake stand! Fill it with flowers, arrange little tea cookies and decor items, top it with candles and cranberries, or even create a picturesque little scene like this.

EASY APPETIZER: Gougères
For an elegant yet surprisingly easy appetizer, try making gougères for your guests. They're like savory little biscuit popovers that would be great paired with soup, a cheese plate, and/or champagne. The ingredients are all basic pantry staples, save for the cheese which you can splurge on at the market.

PARTY LOOK:
Stay cozy in a comfy sweater dress but dress it up with over-the-knee boots, a sparkly bag, and a pop of colorful earrings.
