June is all about celebrating the start of summer for us all, I think, and there are so many ways you can take that idea aesthetically. From nautical and island vibes to vintage Slim Aarons glamour and nostalgic summer camp memories, I kind of love them all!
So many of my summer memories revolve around camp, which has a sort of glamour of its own in its rusticity. Anytime I see photos of felt pennants, cabins, lakes, and rustic wooden signs, I get nostalgic. But my heart is really drawn to old school summer glamour captured in those Slim Aarons photos of C.Z. Guest and Grace Kelly. I’m also a huge fan of Joel Meyerowitz’s “Cape Light” series, so much so that I did a paper on it for one of my Art History courses in college.
The content you’ll find on the blog this month is all about summer. From inspired movies to get you in the mood for the season and the classic ‘what’s in my pool bag’ to melting ice-cream cones, growing a kitchen garden, and, of course, lots and lots of lemonade, everything on the blog this month is centered around what it means to really celebrate summer.
