pretty things no. 35

Happy Saturday! The theme for this week’s edition of Pretty things is color. Most days, I’m fully in the neutral camp with lots of white, beige, and black in my life and if I do venture into color, it’s usual muted pastels. Even the flowers I bring home are neutral! But, recently I’ve been seeing so many bold, colorful pieces out there for spring and it’s inspired me to pull some together.

Okay, I’ve been obsessed with this J.Crew gingham ball gown skirt since the very moment I saw it this week. Like I said up top, it’s like a quirky, preppy version of a Carolina Herrera skirt. I love it styled with the white oxford but it’d look just as cute with a t-shirt and denim jacket, a la Jenna Lyons.

It’s not breaking news that an easy way to incorporate more bold color into your wardrobe is through accessories but it’s always worth the reminder. I love a simple, neutral outfit with a blush ankle boot like this pair in the iconic Mansur Gavriel pink.

If you’re like me and prefer more subdued colors, try a muted pastel which look especially good in suede. I love the Chloé Faye backpack in this grayish blue.

If you’re on the other end of the spectrum and you wanna go super bold, may I present to you this Mara Hoffman maxi dress that is the epitome of bold, tropical, colorful happiness. This dress makes me want to blend up a mango smoothie, put on some sunglasses, and go at it.

For another blush shoe option, I love these mules from the Something Navy collection at Nordstrom. For being such a chic design, they’re a more affordable option than what you usually find.

Another bold option is this fun picnic print set from one of my favorite colorful brands, MDS Stripes. The best part is you can wear the pieces together or pair the cropped top with denim shorts or white, wide leg pants and the patterned shorts with a white t-shirt or lightweight sweater.
