The Weekend List (No. 5)

I've had the best week in Florida! It's been so fun and relaxing, I'm sad to leave. We've watched a ton of movies (My Neighbor Totoro, Me Before You, and Midnight in Paris to name a few) including Bridget Jones' Diary which I shockingly just saw for the first time. I've also had some great meals including brunch at The Briarpatch in Winter Park which was so cute and highly recommended. I've been reading China Rich Girlfriend which is just as enjoyable as its predecessor Crazy Rich Asians.

One of my favorite things about summer is my summer reading list and several books have been added to it recently! I'm excited about Shelter by Jung Yun, Celine by Peter Heller, and Saints For All Occasions by J. Courtney Sullivan. I'm also planning to read Far From the Madding Crowd which I think is such a perfect, classic summer book.

My best friend Caroline got me the best selection of birthday gifts which included the most delicious Piccadilly Lemon Curd Biscuits from Fortnum & Mason as well as the Barefoot in Paris cookbook! I can't wait to spend the summer making ice-cream bombes, fresh fruit galettes and French bistro lunches.

Speaking of Paris, I've been unintentionally reading and watching so many Paris related things recently that I'm starting to think my next big trip should be back to Paris. Somehow, I knew this would happen. There's so many places I want to visit, but it always comes down to Paris. It's exactly like the fact that I always say I'm going to order something other than Eggs Benedict at brunch, but at every brunch I still order the Eggs Benedict.

I'm really looking forward to the upcoming summer months and am so excited to keep sharing fun content with you guys!

What to Wear: Pool Party

I think it's safe to say we all love a good pool party. It's one of those evocative situations with distinct sights (palm trees and sparkling pools), sounds (fun music and splashing), and smells (food on the grill and beachy sunscreen) that we all have stored away somewhere in our memories. Dressing the part can be as easy as a swimsuit and your favorite cover-up, but if the setting is a little more fashion forward, here are a couple of ideas to strike the balance between fashion and function for your next pool party.

Denim Shorts, Bikini Top, Kimono, and Flat Sandals

Denim Shorts, White One-Piece, and Slides

All Neutral Bikini Top, Shorts, Metallic Sandal, and Straw Hat

3 Summer Drinks to Sip Poolside

IMG_0994.JPG

I've really been enjoying my time in Florida for the past week! It's been so nice enjoying the sun, relaxing, and most of all, spending time around the pool. Aside from the essentials like a magazine, sunglasses, and sunscreen, a good summer drink is the perfect accessory for sitting poolside. Here's a couple recipes you should try this summer!

Rose Lemonade
I found this delicious recipe courtesy of Camille Styles and think it's just the perfect, refreshing summer cocktail. Plus, it's super simple and only requires four ingredients. Pour a glass of this to pair with a yummy pizza and lemon arugula salad.

Coconut Lacroix with Lime
This has been my go-to warm weather drink so far this year. I'm personally a fan of sparkling water as it is, but it's so much better when you add a squeeze of fresh citrus. My favorite combination is the coconut flavored Lacroix with a squeeze and slice of fresh lime.

St. Germain Margarita
Freutcake has the perfect drink for your summer parties. Add St. Germain elderflower liquer to your margarita to give it a warm, floral taste that will step it up a notch from the typical marg. Serve alongside tortilla chips and a big bowl of guac.

3 Ways to Save Money Shopping Online

IMG_1052.JPG

As much as I love shopping---and I really do, unfortunately---I also love saving money wherever I can. I probably got that from my dad! When shopping online, like most of us do these days, it can actually be really easy to save money and really stretch your dollar, so to speak. I consider my friend Jess to be the queen when it comes to doing this. I'm always impressed by her success (she has earned nearly $2,000 just through Ebates alone) in getting a lot for her money and it's inspired me to do the same.

1. Use Ebates
As I mentioned, Jess got me hooked on using Ebates for most of my online purchases. It's so easy and you essentially get paid to shop. All you do is install the extension into your browser and it will pop up when you browse a supported website, which includes everything from Net-a-Porter and J.Crew to Sephora and even airlines. Each website has a designated percent cash back that you receive when you shop. For instance, if Net-a-Porter has 6% cashback and you spend $100 on a pair of Nikes, you get $6 in return simply for shopping through Ebates. This can be particularly lucrative when booking travel or making large purchases. You can read more on her guide here.

2. Install Honey
Honey is a browser extension similar to Ebates. This one automatically applies all applicable coupon codes to your purchase so that you don't have to weed through all of the expired ones around the internet. I love maxing out my coupon codes, especially on Sephora where you can almost always get a free gift with purchase alongside your three free samples.

3. Referral Programs
I sign up for just about every referral program I can and it really pays off. If you often find yourself recommending products or services to your friends, I highly suggest utilizing referral codes. Every time someone buys something using your link, you'll get a little kick back. I use this a lot for services like Grove Collaborative and meal delivery kits.

Now, here's what to buy with your saved money.

8 Cute Swimsuits for Your Shopping Cart

IMG_0993.JPG

One of the best parts of summer has to be picking out a cute new swimsuit, right? I know the shopping can be a bit torturous but when you find the right one, you feel cute and ready for the beach! I got a new suit recently by mixing and matching at Old Navy. I love the sporty, hunter green top paired with the coral, palm tree printed bottoms. I'll rotate between this suit and my gingham, high-waisted one from J.Crew for the perfect balance of different looks.

If you're in the market for a cute new swimsuit, here are some recommendations. Blush pink minimalism or sporty, palm prints are two options that fit with the look of the moment while solid black and white one-pieces are a classic choice. However, I die for just about everything from Marysia, so that's a good place to start!
